contest

Well this whole legal thing with the trails seems to keep going in circles, we come up with good ideas but they never seem good enough for the suits. Basically what it comes down to is money and liability. We have 90 days now to come up with some money so the town of Catty doesn't have to use taxpayers money, and to get the whole insurance thing cleared up. For one we know we have insurance that is gonna cost around 1000 a year and a fence that can cost anywhere from 10,000 to 30,000. What we are trying to do is have a plan for a set of trails to exist in America that is legal, legit, and no ways of getting torn down. The only known set of trails to be like this is the 9th street trails in Austin but no one knows how its done when we tried to get some answers. Right now the quickest way to get some money is to have a contest down at the trails. Some time in the middle of September and hopefully get Red Bull involved, if anyone has contacts with them or any energy drink company that loves to put money in things let me know. Right now we have the idea of having an amateur contest where you pay a 50 dollar entry fee and we get a ton of prizes from bike companies to give out. As for a big time Pro contest that is open to ideas, I know Red Bull loves to do original and wild things for this so if anyone has some kind of good idea for that give an email. I mean jeez maybe we can get the girls from the Hills around here and have a contest where the winner a gets a date with one of them since Corey Bohan is romantically linked with one of them. Anyway I hope this gives a better understand of what is going on and hopefully we can get this all figured out and have a legit set of woods that anyone can ride with no worries. The Morning Call has an article on the trails now so you can read that article here.
Also BMX will be in the spotlight tonight and tomorrow as racing will be in the Olympics for the first time ever, hopefully it gives a people a better understanding of the sport. So tune into NBC for coverage on that and maybe the sport will become more traditional now and be accepted as something that isnt a nuisance.
Comments:
Honestly, in my opinion, i think the way 9th street exists, is because of how the city gave the land to the citizens plus like there are 2 big signs around the place saying the city is not liable for anyone getting hurt; you ride at your own risk. The city does not maintain the trails; it is made for BMX not mountain bikes...Plus it says they strongly recommend wearing helmets... Even though not many people do. that kinda of thing. I live in San Antonio and drive there all the time. Thats what I see is what really allows it to be there, and for how long it has been around.

Plus its austin... can you expect much less from them. lol

Well i can't realy help much i'm way over downunder in NZ , all i can say is I realy hope ya get this legal issue sorted out with out to much stress, as Catty trails have had alot off hard work go into them fa sure & it would be a HUGE loss ta the world of trails if they were to.... you kno!!! All the best man & good luck with it all.

i'll send that $$$ from "save the woods" sales in NZ asap as ya need it now more than ever , it ain't much but every penny counts now !! You'd think some of the pro's that visit & roll Catty could pull some strings an help out.
